Ritual arrangement
A godh bharai thaal with fruits, dry fruits, bangles and gifts, arranged to your family's custom.

Celebrations
A gentle afternoon for the mother-to-be and everyone who loves her.
Overview
A godh bharai is a blessing ceremony first and a party second. The mother-to-be sits at the centre, elders fill her lap with fruit, sweets and gifts, and the women of the family sing songs that have been sung for generations. We plan these ceremonies with her comfort in mind: a cushioned seat with back support, shade, a short programme and a quiet room if she needs one.
Many families now blend the godh bharai with a baby shower — pastel décor, light games, a dessert table and a photo corner — and we design both into one afternoon. We work at homes, cafés and banquet halls across Dehradun, and keep the timings short, the food light and the music soft enough for conversation.
What's included
A godh bharai thaal with fruits, dry fruits, bangles and gifts, arranged to your family's custom.
A supportive seat for the mother-to-be, shaded placement, an easy route to the washroom and a quiet space.
Floral swings, pastel balloon work or marigold-and-green palettes, depending on the tone of the day.
Light, inclusive games for guests of all ages, hosted by a coordinator rather than left to relatives.
A light, satvik-friendly menu that respects the mother's dietary advice, plus a dessert table.
A photographer briefed to capture the rituals and family portraits without tiring the mother.
The process
We learn the family's customs for godh bharai, seemantham or simant and the mother's preferences.
Décor, menu and a short programme drafted, with her comfort as the first consideration.
Thaals, gifts, décor and seating arranged and checked the day before.
Our coordinator hosts the games, manages timing and keeps the afternoon to around three hours.

Most families hold it in the seventh or eighth month of pregnancy, on a date chosen with the family pandit. We plan around the doctor's advice and keep the date flexible until close to the event.
We recommend three hours at most, with the rituals in the first hour while the mother is fresh. After that, guests can eat and play games while she rests if she needs to.
Yes. We have planned events blending godh bharai with a South Indian seemantham, a Gujarati simant and Western-style shower games. We sequence the rituals first and keep the party elements after.
Of course. Sex determination is prohibited in India, so almost every shower we plan is neutral by design, with palettes like sage, cream, peach or marigold rather than pink or blue.
Client stories
I was seven months along and in no mood to manage anything. Ananya put together a soft sage-and-cream godh bharai at home, with a comfortable seat for me, ginger tea for the aunties and games that even my shy in-laws joined. Everything was cleared by evening. I just had to show up and be spoilt.

Our children planned this as a surprise with Meher's help. They recreated our wedding mandap in the garden, brought in folk singers for the Garhwali mangal geet we had at our wedding, and served the same menu from that day. When the photographs from our wedding appeared on the wall, neither of us could speak.

I wanted to surprise my wife with her 50th birthday in Mussoorie, where we spent our honeymoon. Shrim found a small hill property with a terrace facing the valley, arranged for 45 friends to be driven up from Dehradun, and had a photographer ready to catch her face as she walked in. Worth every rupee, and every secret I had to keep.
